Criminal Law Award Highlight – Lauren Cassimatis

Recently, our Principal Lawyer, Director and Founder, Lauren Cassimatis, received the Best Criminal Lawyers Award from Lawyers and Barristers Awards. Among over 26,000 lawyers in Victoria, only 8 were selected to receive this prestigious award, and we are thrilled that Lauren was chosen.

Lauren’s aim was to create a law firm which would allow everyone to access quality legal support. That is why she has partnered with organisations providing training for engaging with LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal/Torres Strait Island, African, and Pasifika clients to improve their experience and legal outcomes.

Lauren and Gallant Law are members of The Law Institute of Victoria, Geelong Law Association, and several Legal Aid panels. Our position in these groups allows us to advocate for fair, inclusive and understandable legal proceedings, aligning closely with our core values. Our team witnesses the impact of disenfranchisement in the legal setting every day, so we work hard to promote fair and equitable treatment.

In 2018, Lauren founded Connecting Lawyer Mums (CLM), a support group for mothers working in the legal profession. Designed to offer support and professional training, CLM provides courses, podcasts and resources to members to help you find the balance between your work life and motherhood. The group also runs frequent events to facilitate networking, relaxation and a space to engage with like-minded women.
